I though that as a UX Designer it would be great to have all Canvas compiled at once. There are about a hundred canvas on this Pinterest Board, so this is my Top Ten and this is my approach:

Business Model Canvas, Stripping away the forty or more pages of ‘stuff’ in a traditional business plan, a ten minutes canvas. These are the key points:

  • Customer Segments: Who are the customers? What do they think? See? Feel? Do?
  • Value Propositions: What’s compelling about the proposition? Why do customers buy, use?
  • Channels: How are these propositions promoted, sold and delivered? Why? Is it working?
  • Customer Relationships: How do you interact with the customer through their ‘journey’?
  • Revenue Streams: How does the business earn revenue from the value propositions?
  • Key Activities: What uniquely strategic things does the business do to deliver its proposition?
  • Key Resources: What unique strategic assets must the business have to compete?
  • Key Partnerships: What can the company not do so it can focus on its Key Activities?
  • Cost Structure: What are the business’ major cost drivers? How are they linked to revenue?

The Service Model Canvas, where a particular app, website or product fits into a wider service and how designing a great user experience is not just about getting the small stuff right, like UI design, but also the bigger stuff. But services are complex, and have found it difficult to know where to start when it comes to exploring and de-constructing an existing service, or indeed thinking about a new service.

The Service Model Canvas asks a number of questions about the service, such as who are the users? Why would someone use the service? What competition is out there? The canvas is not intended to capture every detail about a service, but instead as a set of thought starters.

The Gamification Model Canvas from GameLab, used to break down the game design into understandable elements and apply them to the professional environment in order to design, evaluate and solve engagement problems. Wonder if they use this to make RPGs games like.

Here´s one I like, a VR Storyboard from Prototypr, Mixed Reality User Flow Template: This is to create scenes instead of screens. This is coming strong in next years.

The Lean Project Idea Canvas, is a toolkit for people who have ideas, and wants to identify, analyze, develop and run them. The toolkit is a basic and well thought-out structure with practice-oriented models that give you an overview of the steps of a work step to gradually build your Business model project idea. It simplifies the associated complex tasks and processes to bring you a better Results. Lean Project idea gives you a new ways of thinking in your working environment and extends your working methods. It allows you to use more efficient and focused skills and to understand complex processes more easily.

The Prototype Canvas, you can download it here. The boys from ”Design a better business” have a good canvas compilation, I strongly recommend to visit their site.

Personal Branding Canvas: This one called my attention, comes from Roberto Ladanza of Impresa Idea. Maybe you are freelancing and need some minutes to order your thoughts, but remember, be lean my friend!

Only if you have previous experience working with Canvas, you should jump into the Really Big Idea Sketch Pad, if you ever had one, right here a great downloadable .pdf, there´s a demo at Mural with all the creation process.

From the Founder Institute, you can find a lot of Canvas, one I like is the Startup Ecosystem Canvas Template, represents a somewhat sequential view of a startup ecosystem. It was inspired by Startup Communities, and refined using the Founder Institute’s experience launching companies in over 85 cities worldwide. Has three steps: idea / launch / growth. Yes, I wish I worked at a Startup accelerator.

The Pitch Canvas, a brainstorming tool for entrepreneurs
that helps you visualise your whole pitch on one page. Should I have had one of this when I worked at the creativity agency until the end of the world time… Be honest, I think contests should ask just for this sheet, do you agree?
